Paste a list of numbers and get the mean, median, mode, range, variance and standard deviation.
How it works
The mean is the sum of the values divided by how many there are. The median is the middle value once sorted, and the mode is the one that appears most often.
Standard deviation measures how spread out the data is around the mean. Use the sample version (dividing by n − 1) when your data is part of a larger group.
Mean = Σx / n
Variance (population) = Σ(x − mean)² / n
Variance (sample) = Σ(x − mean)² / (n − 1)
Frequently asked questions
How should I enter the numbers?
Separated by spaces, new lines or semicolons. You can paste them straight from a spreadsheet.
Which is better, mean or median?
The median copes better with extreme values. For salaries or house prices it usually describes what’s “typical” better.
